Last year, “Time Magazine” presented an article talking about the new “Apple Watch” just released on the market. In the article, it was explained how technology itself tries to colonize our bodies. Later, another topic was how technology affects people in their everyday life and the problems that carrying a Smartphone provokes, for example, lack of attention to the real world, working hours, among others.
You may wonder by now what this has to do with education. Well it is easy, almost everything! Why? Simply because, the same situations mentioned in the article, happen in our classroom with our students. Teenagers, adolescents and even kids are connected all the time, to the point that they do not pay enough attention to what is happening around them, or their own thoughts or others’ opinions that are in the same room. What they really think about is “what is happening on Twitter? Or Facebook? Or Instagram?” As the article in Time’s magazine said “they are never off line”.
So what can we do about that? Take every advantage as we can and work with technology as a useful tool inside and outside the classroom. That is what ECO II and our Blog are about!
